Thank you for purchasing Sony Media Software Sound Forge
Audio Studio 8.0. This document contains information
about installing and using Sound Forge Audio Studio on your computer.
Notable fixes/changes in version 8.0a
- A bug that affected rendering and reading of large AIF files has been fixed: 16-bit, 44.1 kHz stereo AIF renders are now limited to approximately 03:22:53 of audio (536,870,909 samples); 24 bit, 96 kHz stereo renders are now limited to approximately 01:02:08 of audio (357,913,940 samples); the largest file that can be rendered as AIF is approximately 2GB in size. Sound Forge Audio Studio 8.0a will continue to load files created with previous releases that exceed these limits, though other applications may fail to load them.
- A bug has been fixed that could cause problems reading some VOX or IVC files.
- A problem has been fixed that could cause problems when reading AVI files with MP3-encoded audio.
What's new in version 8.0
- VST effect support.
- ASIO audio driver support.
- Data window scrubbing.
- Ability to save a project path in a rendered file and
edit a rendered file's source project.
- You can now choose the Ruler Format and Level Format for
data displayed in the Statistics window.
- You can copy the contents of the Statistics window to
the clipboard for easy comparison of multiple files.
- Integration with CD Architect.
- Macromedia Flash (.swf) format importing. (ActionScript,
motion video, and audio are not supported.)
- You can use the Display tab in the Preferences dialog
to adjust the icon color saturation and icon tinting.
- If you have a USB SmartMedia reader device installed on
your PC, you may experience problems when you attempt to
access your CD drive from Sound Forge Audio Studio for extracting
audio or burning CDs. This is due to an error in the SmartMedia
reader driver. Using the Unplug or Eject Hardware Wizard
to remove the reader should allow Sound Forge Audio Studio to
function normally.
- 24-bit Windows Media Audio files will always be read as
16-bit files in Windows 2000. This is a limitation of the
operating system. You can render 24-bit WMA files, but if
you want to read these files as 24-bit audio, copy them
to a Windows XP machine.
- Project5 plug-ins cause an exception at the end of
processing. Previewing through these plug-ins with the
Loop Playback button selected will mask
this exception.
If you a plug-in chain that includes plug-ins that produce tails, such as
Simple Delay, the tails
will not be generated if those plug-ins occur after the Project5 plug-ins.
To
avoid
this, place the Project5 plug-ins at the end of the plug-in chain or add
tail-generating
effects
in separated processing passes.
